To state it simply, I am a mother of two adult children, a grandmother of four wonderful grandchildren, and a retired secretary. Those are the basics in my life, but there are many more facets of my life. Let me embellish them.
I am Iowan all the way. Born and raised in Northwest Iowa, I graduated from South Clay Community School. I was a partner in a family farm near Rockford Iowa for several years before moving to Mason City and I have called that my home since 1981.
I retired from the local hospital there after 33 years where I worked first as a Unit Clerk in the Inpatient Pediatric Department for 17 years. I then transferred to the Behavioral Services Outpatient Clinic until my retirement in 2013.
I began writing stories for my grandchildren and when my first book was published in 2010, I continued to write books. My grandchildren were inspirations for my books. They continue to give me ideas for what they think would be a terrific book.
Once I had retired, I could devote more time to doing school visits where I would read my books and enlighten children about my process of being published. II love being retired and I love being an author. There is such joy in being able to express on paper (or computer) what is going on in my head. try to show them that reading is an important first step to become and author.
